Since the very first day of its debut, cell phone has played an indispensable part in everyone’s life in various aspects. While there are some major drawbacks in terms of privacy and overdependence, the benefits are much more substantial in terms of convenience and comfort.
To begin with, one of the most obvious advantages associated with mobile phones is the free coverage of long distance. Specifically, when using such devices, not only can they keep constant contact with their faraway relatives but these gadgets will also come in handy in emergency situations such as car breakdowns or rearranging important events. Furthermore, when it comes to usefulness, smartphones are capable of performing a multitude of functions like phone calls, music players and games, which are must-have applications to users. Also, with just a phone call, housewives can order numerous products to be delivered to their addresses such as food, drink and merchandises without any inconvenience. Finally, parents can feel less worried when their children are outside by calling them when necessary.
Despite the aforementioned advantages, there remain some considerable disadvantages. First of all, having a smartphone would entail additional costs such as monthly fees for texting, data and insurance service along with their attachments and installation of wireless system. Next comes the intrusion on users’ privacy, which are illustrated by the interruption to their personal moments. For instance, when employees are spending time with their family members, their bosses suddenly call them for announcement of meetings, which would become a continual harassment. Additionally, phone users would face higher possibilities of accidents since they are likely to be distracted from driving on roads. Despite recently imposed laws banning using phones when driving, it is impossible for drivers to ignore them.
In conclusion, although mobile phones can bring about many positive advantages in our life, their disadvantages would be inevitable. Therefore, there should be adequate consideration when using these useful devices.
