For recreational purposes, students tend to take extra-curricular activities after hard-working days at school. This raises the question of whether such activities will do them good or not. Personally, while I believe that students certainly benefit from those interests on the following grounds.
To begin with, there is no arguing that joining outdoor activities would provide students with endless advantages in terms of physicality, sociality, emotionality and intellectuality. When it comes to social benefits, through interacting with different kinds of people, the learners could meet and build lasting relationships with many other like-minded partners. For example, sharing the same interests of playing chess, many young students can form clubs with mutual friends and hang out together more. Taking mentality into account, physical activities helps reduce stress and prevents some cases of depression.According to researchers, better self-esteem often results from consistent recreation, partially due to a decrease in stress and to the overall feeling of well-being that occurs from regular aerobic exercise. Turning to intellectuality, studies show that people who exercise regularly experience longer, deeper, more restful sleep. As a result, better sleep results in more energy and alertness the following day, allowing better concentration and ability to think on higher levels, which could be a significant contribution to improvements in academic performances. Finally, outdoor recreation provides a multitude of advantageous physical activities that may be performed in solitude, with several friends and family members. Specifically, sports such as hiking, canoeing, swimming, racket and ball sports and numerous other physical activities present them with more choices for enjoyable exercise, which is likely to keep them motivated.
In conclusion, it is undeniable that outdoor recreation brings innumerable merits in many aspects. Therefore, students should participate in those activities to become more adapted to this ever-changing society.
