Today the high sales of popular consumer goods reflects the power of advertising and not the real needs of the society in which they are sold.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
There is a good deal of evidence that many people buy goods without enough consideration, as a result, the things they buy are not really in their needs. I entirely agrees that advertising , which is gaining popularity nowadays, is a really effective reason. Initially, this essay will shows how representation can impact on people’s choices before going to analyze the power of promotion campaigns.
The brand’s presentations play an extremely important role in the success of advertising. The more famous the presentations are as well as the more fans they have, the more people will buy the products. Although these people not really need those kind of things ,however, this is the way they show their love and belief to their idols. This is the reason why many companies try to invite popular stars to represent their product namely H&M, Kenzo, Nona9on, etc.
Furthermore, the promotion campaigns of the companies also create great impacts on consumers. Products always look good on the screen moreover with reasonable prices and special offers, consumers will probably buy them even they do not have demand. For examples, during the “buy 2 blocks get 3” promotion campaigns last months, Pepsi’s sale rates significantly increased as twice as those in normal days because people were likely to buy 2 blocks instead of 1, their real needs.
In conclusion, following the rise of technology and media, advertising is getting more and more popular, that is the reason why consumers easily get news about brands’ promotion and representation. As a result, goods are consumed considerably, however, it does not show the society’s real needs.
