It has been a hot topic of discussion, nowadays, as to why historical places are immensely visited by tourists alone while local people take little or no interest in the places of historical significance. Various reasons will be discussed regarding the issue in the following essay, before laying out the measures to mitigate this uprising phenomenon.
Firstly, there are several attributes as to why foreigners, as opposed to locals, take more interest in museums and other historical places. Indulging into a new tradition is one of the key factors. A historical place imparts a comprehensive overlook of the traditions of that locality where that is situated. Consequently, new people are more curious to explore these places than the locals who do not need to familiarise themselves with their own tradition. Subsequently, the dwindling amount of attendance for the locals can also be attributed to the fact that there have been diminishing the number of events organised at these places. Lack of fresh and novel events like marriage, exhibitions or plays, have plummeted the curiosity levels of the locals who have, atleast once in their lifetime, already visited the places of history.
Therefore, there are several measures that can encourage the number of locals to the buildings with history. First of all, the government should take initiative to incorporate art performances into the ongoing events which will boost the inquisitiveness among local people and improve their attendance. Secondly, to build up the interest of the local residents, the historical places should be featured via media, laying out new studies conducted by the scientists or archaeologists, which will be assessable to many, conveniently.
In conclusion, the main reason behind the lower turnover of locals at local museums and other places is their lost enthusiasm to visit these places, However, problem can be alleviated, should necessary action be taken.
