Fresh water has always been a limited resource in some parts of the world. Today, however, growing worldwide demand has made this a global problem.
What are the causes of the increased demand and what measure could governments and individuals take to respond to this problem?
Deforestation, poisonous gases,  depletion of rivers has rendered the accessibility of fresh water a problem, which is nowadays a great concern of modern societies, in fact, some futuristic scenarios were even written regarding the water wars. Fortunately, human beings have still some time to prevent water-induced tensions between nations by taking some measures.
Rapid growth of human population in every part of the world has hastened the depletion process of fresh water and has caused to divide up the water resources for more individuals. İn addition to this, industrialisation brought about to emit more harmful gases which effect the nature’s ordinary circle that had caused the latter became unable to renew itself. Furthermore, I would argue that, one of the most important reasons of increasing demand of fresh water is the fact that prodigality rate of water usage has been risen recently in modern societies.
İn my opinion, there are fortunately some measures which can be taken by goverments as well as individuals. Governments for example, could pour money into technologic devices which can disalinate the sour water into fresh ones by using seas or oceans. I think it would be so lucrative, or to be more strict, in some extreme cases, goverments can introduce a ban which prevents or at least mitigates the prodigal portion of daily fresh water usage in houses.
As for the individuals, I believe that the biggest step should be taken by them. Nowadays, particularly in modern societies, people are more likely to spend longer time in bathroom, the duration of showers sometimes can be even increased to an hour. İndividual therefore could pay more attention to shower duration to prohibit the waste of water in bathroom, or, it can be sound old-fashioned, however so effective I think, individuals could use billycans in bathroom as controlling taps is more difficult and contributes to waste.
İn conclusion, I thus believe that human being should assess its own resources in a wiser way, having said that, I also think there are some measures that goverments, as well as individuals, could take for increasing water demand.
