Question: A number of different medical traditions are now widely known and used: Western medicine (using drugs and surgery), herbal medicine, acupuncture ( using needles at certain points of the body), homoeopathy (using minute doses of poisons), and so on. How important is the patient’s mental attitude towards his/her treatment in determining the effectiveness of the treatment?

In the current setting, people have multiple ways of getting treatment. Those who find Western therapy owns inherent drawbacks to their health conditions now can easily find alternatives treatments, to name but a few, herbal medicine, acupuncture or homoeopathy. However, some hold the idea that regardless of how you choose to recover, it is your attitude that matters the most in defining the effectiveness. From how I see it, how you react count but it also depends on the therapy you decide.

On the one hand, for Western and herbal medicine, these practices are profoundly influenced by ones emotion. Most detrimental illnesses or accidents take time to recover. If the patients unsettled mindset keeps changing as for the ambigious understanding then this will sure leads to reckless actions regardless of the consequence. This might get them to refuse to trust their doctors , may be, for the obsolete thinking or religious belief that leads to rare cases when patients suffered from curable ailments passed. However, those had fate after months of chemotherapy alongside with personal doctors , had prolonged living time. Reality has corrobarated the fact of those who lead a positive lifestyle had remarkable shorten their treating duration.

On the other hand, for accupunture and homoeopathy, its effectiveness does not rely on human emotion. Even if you tackle your ailment with positive approach, it would not effect much. And so, this view does not impose on these two particular therapies. Nevertheless, it is still vital that one keep being optimistic because emotion plays a prodigious role from the decision to the process of getting better.

To sum up, eventhough it is not intirely up to ones attitude that their condition aggravated or not, however, it is best that you maintain a healthy and benevolent lifestyle.
