Every year several languages die out. Some people think that this is not important because life will be easier if there are fewer languages in the world.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
In today’s world, there are many different nationalities who speak different languages. However, due to the globalisation of our society, many of these languages are now extinct. Some individuals commonly believe that life would be better if fewer languages were spoken. I agree that languages should be preserved for several reasons.
On the one hand, it is true that if did not exist such a variety of languages communication will be easier, as well as travelling and working in other countries. Furthermore, this idea will also aid the people who are illiterate, as they have a hard time learning different languages they will feel more integrated into society by speaking the same idiom as them.
On the other hand, I believe it is beneficial for our society if they speak different languages. It will increase their knowledge and the ability to learn new idioms. For example, the Indians have their own speech to communicate with each other, and in my opinion, this kind of language should not disappear, since it represents the culture of that people and it is the strongest heritage they possess.
To conclude, it is true that life would be easier if less different idioms were spoken. That is why the English language is worldwide spoken because it facilitates communication among distinct nationalities. Despite this huge advantage, I believe that is paramount to maintain different and old idioms since they represent their people and their culture. Therefore, if we only speak one or two languages in the entire world, it would turn out in a monotonous and tedious place to live.
